Tec 40 or Advanced Nitrox

Having completed your Essential Tech course, you’ve already train the necessary skills to go deep. Now it’s time to add a stage bottle to your setup to enhance your safety and bottom time.

The goal of this course is to continue practicing your technique, but now with the addition of a stage bottle. We will conduct deep dives, but without decompression.

The importance of starting to dive with a stage tank without deco will help you to manage your dive plan, times, communication, and technique before you go to deco dives.

In this course, we will use Nitrox up to 40% as the bottom gas to improve safety.

This course can be combined with the Nitrox specialty course.

PREREQUISITES

• Advanced Diver certification (or equivalent).

• Certification in Essential Rec (Single Tank), Essential Tec (Twinset), or Essential Sidemount (or equivalent).

• At least 30 logged dives, with 10 of them deeper than 25 meters.

• Nitrox Diver certification (or equivalent).

• Diver Medical Declaration.

• Mandatory Accident Insurance (covering up to 40 meters)

COURSE PLANNING

The Recreational Deco Diver Course consists of 1 theory session, a stage cylinder configuration workshop, and a minimum of 5 dives. We structure the course as follows: 1 online day and 3 in-person days.

Online Session 1 (4 hours)

• Course Presentation

• Philosophy of Technical Diving

• Workshop 1: Stage Cylinder Configuration

• Cylinder Analysis and Labeling

Day 1 (5 hours)

• Land Drills for Dives 1 and 2

• Dives 1 and 2: Review of proper trim, efficient finning, SMB deployment, and the Six Fundamentals

Day 2 (5 hours)

• Video Review of Dives 1 and 2

• Equipment Reconfiguration

• Land Drills for Dives 3 and 4

• Dive 3: Training dive with decompression cylinder

• Dive 4: Dive with decompression cylinder, including simulated decompression stops

Day 3 (5 hours)

• Video Review of Dives 3 and 4

• Equipment Reconfiguration

• Land Drills for Dive 5

• Dive 5

AFTER THE COURSE

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be certified to dive without direct or indirect supervision with other qualified divers, to a maximum depth of 40 meters, using Nitrox blends up to 100% as decompression gas, with a maximum decompression time of 10 minutes.
